The bank’s Financial Crimes Compliance (FCC) team is responsible for identifying, investigating and monitoring relationships that pose a money laundering or terrorist financing risk in support of all legal and regulatory requirements relating to anti-money laundering (AML) and counter terrorism financing. 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze system generated and manually created alerts for potential suspicious activity
  • Research, analyze, and investigate customer/transaction behavior for potential money laundering or terrorist financing related risks in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.
    • Ensure timely and efficient reporting of suspicious transactions, legal requests, and all other time sensitive reports or manager requests
    • Collect documentary proof to build and maintain case files for transactions deemed suspicious
    • Prepare detailed investigative reports and summaries
    • Perform research and analysis on customers and their transactions to ensure conformity with their expected activity
    • Produce high- quality investigative cases that can be held to high standards of quality and accuracy
  • Accurately and within established timeframes, work daily reports, follow up with staff as necessary, review and approve monitoring alerts, Law Enforcement requests, Sanctions alerts, CTR/forms, and other duties related to the company AML/CFT program as necessary.
  • Train and mentor other team members
  • Stay well-informed on current money laundering and terrorist financing behaviors, issues, criminal typologies, industry best practices, regulations, and developing trends
  • Perform negative media scan using tools such as Internet search engines and LexisNexis
  • Flexible to perform other functions as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Must have Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation or similar certifications or obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in BSA/AML Compliance including writing and preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements
    • Proven ability to balance quality and quantity of reports
  • Strong knowledge of the laws applicable to money laundering, including Bank Secrecy Act, the USA PATRIOT Act, US Treasury AML guidelines, OFAC requirements, and Suspicious Activity Reporting requirements
  • Strong understanding of banking products and services
  • Strong research skills including experience with online search tools
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Superior writing, analytical and communication skills
  • Able to multitask and complete projects on time, often on a tight deadline
  • Strong relationship building skills both internally and externally
