Transfer Specialist (FT/80) Modesto

Description:
Serving the greater Stanislaus County with 423 plus acute care beds, Memorial Medical Center provides a full continuum of care including 24-hour emergency care, inpatient and outpatient surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, nuclear medicine, dialysis therapy, diagnostic imaging, intensive care, physical therapy, and home health. Specialized care includes Memorial Regional Cancer Center and Memorial Heart Institute.

 

POSITION SUMMARY\:

The Transfer Specialist, as part of the Public Safety, Transfer Center and Disaster Control Facility (DCF) performs emergency and general communications functions, documentation, and dispatching of necessary personnel for internal/external services in a consistent and professional manner.

 

 

 
Qualification:

Minimum Requirements\:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Six (6) months of recent computer operation/data entry experience.
  • Skill to accurately type a minimum of 30 wpm.
  •  Ability to interpret and give both verbal and written instructions.
  •  Ability to speak clearly and concisely over the radio and telephone.
  •  Ability to remain calm, think clearly, quickly assess and evaluate situations, organize thoughts and respond quickly in emergency and stressful situations.
  •  Must be able to demonstrate effective communication with co-workers.
  • Prioritization skills, be multi-tasked oriented, and able to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously.
  • Must complete MCI Training Modules; Introduction to SEMS/NIMS, Basic Multi-Casualty ICS, S.T.A.R.T, and Control Facility Interaction on the Mountain Valley EMS Agency website (www.mvemsa.org) within first 90 days. 
  • ABC’s of Life Safety (will be completed within your first 90 days and yearly thereafter).
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Ability to read, write, hear and verbally communicate in English to the degree required to perform the job.
  • Must be able to travel in accordance with any requirements of your job (if MMC and/or own vehicle used on MMC business, must possess valid California Driver’s License and upon request proof of liability insurance.

Preferred Qualifications\:

  • College-level education in relevant disciplines.
  •  EMT Certification or experience/knowledge of the Emergency Medical Services System.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of civil and criminal law.
  • Familiarity with regional response area.
