Compensation

The base hourly rate for this position is $35.00.

JOB OBJECTIVE:

This is an hourly non-bargaining position responsible for assisting in the supervision of the production shift while leading the shift in running effectively. This position reports to the Plant Superintendent.

Shift: 5pm - 1:30am

Hourly Rate: $35.00

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Use safe work practices and reports hazardous conditions. Know the evacuation process. Wear proper PPE.
  •  Attends all monthly safety meetings. Complete safety audits on a monthly basis.   Follow safety guidelines in the Edison plant.
  • Maintain an open and candid working relationship with immediate supervisor/manager discussing all matters of importance.
  • Performs various duties relative to quality problems and operating difficulties; assists the operators in maintaining their units in good operating condition.
  • Perform other job functions as requested to support the effective and efficient operation of the plant, including duties of lower classifications.
  • Need to understand the overtime procedure to call in employees to keep operations running.
  • Report any attendance, vacation, or sick leave, etc. to the supervisor.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all employees.
  • Provide support to employees as needed through personal relationships or provide EAP information.
  • Complete shift/production reports and enter production data into SAP.
  • Communicate to oncoming supervisor any pertinent information from shift.
  • Document all labor hours for the shift that you are covering.
  • Acting supervisor must be willing to be 1st responder trained and maintain that qualification.  
  • Follow all general shop rules for the Edison plant.
  • Keeps equipment and work areas clean and orderly.
  • Cleanup work area and ensure that all 5S areas of responsibility have been completed before end of shift.    
  • Complete computer-based training and all other programs needed to stay in compliance with company policies.
  • Continuously observes the operation of all units for improper performance and advises and/or assists operator in their corrections.
  • May temporarily “take over” unit form operator to over-come operating difficulties.
  • Change over unit from one product to another, performing any duties necessary to affect the changeover as quickly as possible and with minimum loss.
  • Shuts down a unit for periodic cleanup and restarts unit when cleanup has been completed.
  • Works with crew on unit during shutdown and cleaning as required.
  • Directs assists and instructs members of the crew on each unit performing their duties.
  • Observes for malfunctioning of equipment and for unusual operating conditions so that corrective action may be taken.
  • Records information relative to the operation and performs clerical duties necessary to maintain proper records relative to the work performed. 
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with machine start-up and shutdown procedures and understand fully steps to be taken during emergencies such as power failure, malfunction of equipment, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as directed, including duties of lower classification.
  • Assists in making test procedures (TP’S) while following instructions from process personnel.
  • Must be qualified on the more complex subordinate jobs.
  • Mechanical and operating principals; percentages and math
  • Make machine adjustments to improve quality; plan shutdown, cleanout and schedule changes.

Background/Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Flexibility in work hours and assignments
