Job Summary

Provides contextualized academic instruction to adult education students in English Language Acquisition (ELA/ESL). Provides targeted instruction to ensure completion of program goals. Design lessons to help students develop their English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills and strategies.

Job Duties:

  • Provides English Language Acquisition (ELA/ESL) instruction and Kentucky Career Readiness.

  • Plans and provides ELA instruction for eligible adults in various settings.

  • Apply research-based instructional practices that incorporate computers and other digital literacy.

  • Assesses and monitors learning.

  • Provides classroom management.

  • Maintains lesson plans and syllabi for each course taught.

  • Provide continuous feedback and adjust instruction to maximize student learning.

  • Interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic tests.

  • Uses formal and informal assessment data to monitor and document student progress.

  • Participates in strategies for student retention and attempts to maintain communication with students.

  • Assesses adult education needs.

  • Meets deadlines for completing paperwork.

  • Participate in required professional development activities.

  • This position requires day, afternoon, and evening (two evenings per week) teaching availability.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (related field) and two years related work experience or equivalent.

  • Post-Secondary transcripts required.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (related field) and four years related work experience or equivalent.

  • KAERS/MyOneFlow Experience.

  • Experience with distance learning educational platforms.

  • Experience working in Adult Education.

  • Experience collaborating with Adult Education team members.

  • Self-starter.

  • Prior ELA/ESL experience.

  • Experience managing large ELA/ESL classes.
