The Northeast Health District is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or FNP. Under limited supervision, performs advanced nursing functions and conducts preventive health care assessments with a focus on Women’s Health, STD assessments and treatment, and cancer detection. Assess the client’s condition, performs and interprets laboratory tests, prescribes appropriate treatments/therapies, and provides education.  Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, and minor invasive procedures as medically required/recommended.  Perform insertions and removals of various LARC devices and assist with district training needs. The ideal candidate will not only excel in providing high-quality patient care but also possess strong computer skills to effectively manage electronic health records and other digital tools used in modern healthcare. 

As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse within the Clarke County Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Healthyou will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways. 

Job Responsibilities

 • Coordinates health department clinical programs and activities with local health department Administrator, District Health Office, and State Office staff in accordance with programmatic and funding guidelines.
 • Monitors and evaluates nursing and other clinical programs for the county.
 • Performs assurance activities to ensure that services are adequate, appropriate, and accessible within the community.
 • Provides supervision of public health staff in the county health department setting.
 • Organizes, coordinates, and implements community health services according to agency policies, programs, objectives, and resources available in the assigned area of responsibility.
 • Creates and maintains a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation.
 • Encourages and facilities cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity, fosters commitment and team spirit; works cooperatively with others to achieve goals.
 • Works and communicates with the public, internal customers and/or external customers to provide information and quality services and/or products targeted to meet customer expectations.
 • Serves as local public health contact for community agencies and partners in clinical public health services.
 • Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate or Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and/or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND certification in the specialty area(s) approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND Georgia license as an APRN and CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Womans Health and STD/infectious disease.
 
An annual salary of $77,000; plus, generous benefits that include 13 paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance and retirement plans.
