We are seeking an education domain expert with an interest in sales to join our team of like-minded changemakers and meet our goals. As a Director of Business Development and Sales Evangelism, you will help us distribute this platform into the education space. This position will report to our Founder, and while we are headquartered in NYC, it can be remote within the United States.
This role will grow in significance as the organization scales and expands. For the appropriate candidate, it can evolve in several directions based on interest and achievement. Upon attaining certain performance milestones, the Director of Business Development and Sales Evangelism is anticipated to expand the team by hiring additional development professionals as direct reports.

- 8+ years in senior roles within edtech, K-12 education, literacy development, or community-focused leadership, including positions like Principal, Superintendent, or Education Administrator.
- Academic achievements in relevant fields such as K-12 education, linguistics, children’s literature, or language equity, combined with a strong understanding of edtech trends, e-learning pedagogies, and early childhood education.
- Proven success in fostering partnerships and business development in education or related sectors, particularly in startup environments or the launch phase of new initiatives.
- Deep understanding of the challenges in adopting educational solutions within school districts, including budget constraints, funding mechanisms, and decision-making processes involving administrators, school boards, and educators.
- Solid leadership, project management, and organizational skills, with the ability to navigate competing priorities, communicate effectively, and adapt to ambiguity in a dynamic environment.
Our client seeks a Director of Business Development and Sales Evangelism to drive change and redefine education by expanding their innovative product suite into schools, libraries, community organizations, and beyond. This critical role involves close collaboration with marketing, product development, and research teams to promote adopting their unique solutions and grow their presence in the education market. Your Specific responsibilities will include:
- Achieve a sales quota of $1-2M in the first year.
- Secure pilot agreements and early adopter contracts with schools, libraries, and educational organizations.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with industry groups, publishers, and media/tech companies.
- Monitor sales progress, provide regular performance updates, and track opportunities for growth.
- Identify new business opportunities, expand existing accounts, and actively pursue new enterprise clients.
