Director of Talent Acquisition

Baird's Human Resources team is dedicated to attracting, developing, engaging and retaining the best global talent to meet the firm mission of being a best place to work. The Talent Acquisition team is critical to sourcing, attracting and hiring top talent across the firm. The Director of Talent Acquisition will lead a high functioning team of 12 TA professionals focused on creatively and efficiently sourcing, attracting and hiring diverse and highly competitive talent to support the workforce and talent needs now and in the future.

This critical HR leader will have a passion for Talent Acquisition and will lead the firm's TA strategy, including influencing leaders, enhancing tools and recruitment processes, marketing the Baird brand, ensuring a signature candidate experience and offering superior client service to our hiring leaders. This is an ideal position for an innovative, people focused leader who can deliver results, while developing talent.

As a Talent Acquisition Director, you will:

Set the TA vision and strategy:
  • In partnership with Senior Executives, HR leaders and the TA team, create and execute the vision and strategy for firm wide talent acquisition initiatives, with a focus on diverse, inclusive and cutting-edge hiring practices.
  • Partner with business leaders to understand their business and talent needs, working with them to anticipate, and provide solutions for, short and long-term hiring goals.
  • Manage the strategic diversity and inclusion hiring initiatives and goals, including building key relationships within the firm and n the communities where Baird serves.
  • Oversee and continue to refine innovative and efficient talent acquisition processes, including applicant tracking, creative sourcing, candidate experience, effective interviewing new hire onboarding.

Lead a high performing team:
  • Provide ongoing leadership to the TA team, including coaching, training, development, work allocation and communication on business updates.
  • Foster a team structure that creates stretch opportunities and career paths for top performers across all areas.
  • Build strategic relationships:
  • Serve on the senior HR leadership team, as the voice for Talent Acquisition, communicating success and advocating for the TA team, collaborating on challenges.
  • Collaborate with leaders to develop, educate and maintain talent acquisition strategies firm wide.
  • Build, maintain and enhance stakeholder champions and sponsorship for talent acquisition initiatives across the firm.

Define, measure and communicate success:
  • Leverage HR analytics to establish and build metrics used to track TA success and identify opportunities. Communicate TA metrics and scorecards to senior leaders to demonstrate progress on key initiatives.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of the current applicant tracking system (Kenexa Brass Ring) and lead the future implementation of new system (Workday).
  • Manage TA department budget in collaboration with TA Team, Finance and Chief Human Resources Officer.
  • Evaluate and manage recruitment-related vendors ensuring TA team has effective and innovative tools to find talent and track success (LinkedIn, CareerBuilder, Skill Survey, HireRight, Montage, etc.)

Be a leader in your field:
  • Cultivate relationships with peer firm and other high performing organization TA professionals to exchange ideas, identify trends and collaborate to improve approaches to common challenges and opportunities, resulting in thought leadership and best practices for Baird.
  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with external partners, educational institutions, professional practice organizations and community resources to assist TA programs.

What we look for:
  • Fifteen or more years HR, recruiting or executive search experience coupled with demonstrated experience leading a team of recruiting professionals toward success with strategic, innovative hiring strategies
  • Servant leadership skills with ability to build trust combined with a genuine interest in supporting, optimizing and growing your team, peers and clients. You will lead by example.
  • Comprehensive experience and understanding of implementing talent acquisition strategies focused on efficiently attracting, hiring and retaining top talent within a dynamic, service oriented environment.
  • Experience managing a budget and vendor relationships utilizing strong negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with various recruitment technology platforms and applicant tracking systems, (Kenexa and/or Workday preferred).
  • A proven consultative approach, deep program management experience and an ability to influence regarding critical talent decisions.
  • Strong business acumen, relationship building and influence.
  • Ability to navigate through complexity and establish priorities in a dynamic, changing environment.
  • Proven track record of building trust and credibility with senior leadership, demonstrating maturity and interpersonal savvy while delivering solutions/results.
  • Well networked in the talent acquisition community to allow for problem solving and discussing best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education or related field required. Master's degree in Education, Business Administration, Human Resources or related degree preferred.
