Position Information

Hiring Department: Advising and Student Services

Posting End Date: Open until filled.

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: Exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.

Purpose of Position

Summary:The Director of the Student Success Help Desk (SSHD) is responsible for leading a team of staff members dedicated to providing comprehensive academic and support services to continuing and returning students to assist with barriers to retention and persistence and facilitate seamless pathways to degree completion. The Student Success Help Desk advocates students' success by connecting them to programs and resources on campus and in the community to facilitate positive student experience.

Essential Functions

Coordinates the monitoring, maintenance, and tracking of student, faculty, and staff requests and referrals through the centralized SSHD ticket system, including data collection and submission requirements according to established policies and deadlines.

Leadership and oversight of the university's academic and social support services including the Foster Homeless Adopted Resources (FHAR), and Basic Needs Support programs and reenrollment of returning students. Facilitates university partnership with Workforce Solutions Borderplex (WSB) and between the department and other internal or external community resources, as needed; compiles and submits reports as required by the Vice Provost, and state, local, and federal regulatory agencies.

Develops, implements, and provides training policies, standards, guidelines, and security monitoring processes in relation to academic and administrative standards, privacy regulations, and development of staff literacy in all aspects of the student academic life cycle; coordinates activities of department to ensure operational efficiency and economy.

Collaborates with Vice Provost for Advising, Academic Success & Student Support, Advising and Student Services Directors, Assistant Dean of Students, Enrollment Services, Student Business Services, College Partners, and other campus and community resources, on the development and implementation of training curricula, standards, guidelines, and monitoring processes required for the successful execution of advising, persistence, and student success strategies within areas of assigned responsibility.

Promotes organization policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations; advises University personnel regarding the development and implementation of regulatory strategy, potential areas of regulatory concern, and new government/regulatory developments.

The Director coordinates, implements, supervises, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, integration, and completion of projects and for all administrative policies within assigned area of responsibility.

Collaborates with the Vice Provost for Advising, Academic Success, & Student Support to develop short and long-range plans, conceptual designs, and resource (budget) requirements for the successful execution of reenrollment efforts, persistence campaigns, and degree completion initiatives within the areas of assigned responsibility.

Understands and supports the department's role in accomplishing the University's mission.

Participates in committees, professional trainings, industry conferences and conventions.

Successfully utilizes all Microsoft Office software and institutional software systems including the student information system, service desk, and online scheduling platform.

Other duties as assigned. Occasional travel may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's objectives, policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree

and

Experience: Five years of related experience and/or training to the essential duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree.

Applicants Should Demonstrate:

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations; gather and analyze data; draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.

Comfortability with public speaking.
