FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN  
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is a hands role for facility and asset maintenance, contractor supervision and coordination, logistics, site utilities at Rocket Lab’s Space Structures Complex. This role will provide the entire complex a sustainment function to support the facility, staff, contractor, supplies. 

The role requires a quick-thinking problem solver who can build and maintain positive business relationships with other Rocket Lab department peers, local suppliers, and service providers to effect short-notice requirements. This role will require working in all weather conditions. 

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO: 

Site Operations 

  • Contractor management and coordination 
  • Support and repair for site utilities 
  • Maintain functionality of electrical subsystems, cranes, pneumatic systems, etc. 
  • Fleet management of vehicles (as applicable) 
  • Management of waste and hazardous materials 
  • Identify, plan and execute capital equipment, machine, and layout upgrades to meet production requirements, including preparation of business cases. 

Production Support 

  • Maximize up-time of all production equipment 
  • Manage inventory of equipment spares 
  • Implement statistical process control to manage equipment health 
  • Development of “Total Productive Maintenance” system following lean principles 
  • Lead problem containment and root cause/corrective action investigations 
  • Perform structured root cause analysis of equipment failures. 
  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, production equipment including disassembly and reassembly of:
    • Valves such as; pressure, gate, globe, ball, butterfly, check, double block, and diaphragm.
    • Actuators such as; pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, and spring.
    • Flow, pressure, density, and temperature meters.
    • Positive and non-positive displacement pumps 

Other 

  • Domestic and international travel may be required 
  • Additional duties as reasonably required 
  • Be a role model for a safety-conscious culture 
  • Ensure health and safety policies, PPE, standard operating procedures are followed 
  • Ensure near misses and incidents are reported promptly and accurately 

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICTIONS :  

  • High School Diploma
  • 8+ years experience with facility and equipment maintenance experience in any of the following industries: aerospace, automotive, medical device, or a heavily regulated manufacturing facility. 
  • Full US driver’s license 

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:  

  • Forklift license 
  • Electrical license
  • Proficiency with pneumatic/hydraulic and utilities plumbing 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position 
  • Able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted 
  • Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working in tight spaces. 
  • Must be able to move repetitively, bend or twist, and use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls. 
  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods – 8 hours min  
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces
