Job Summary
Responsibilities and Duties Include:
• Assist in planning, organizing and coordinating all counseling and recruiting activities of the college.
• Assist current and prospective students with the financial aid application process.
• Promote the school and develop rapport with other agencies.
• Review student applications to determine financial need and award aid according to federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.
• Provide effective outreach to veterans and active-duty military.
• Establish interpersonal working relationships with local military-affiliated entities.
• Serve as the point of contact (POC) for veteran education benefits/Department of Defense benefits for students/prospective students at the Stanton Extension Campus.
• Maintain annual training requirements to remain eligible to be a School Certifying Official.
• Serve as a backup School Certifying Official to the main campus.
• Develop a general understanding of the impact of financial aid on veteran education benefits.
• Maintain/replenish supplies in the Veterans Center.
• Perform verification of FAFSA data and conflicting data resolution.
• Notify students of eligibility of aid and of award changes.
• Conducts orientations and workshops for prospective and current students.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress to determine continued eligibility.
• Compile and complete financial aid reports in a timely manner.
• Reconciliation of financial aid accounts.
• Assist with dual enrollment as needed.
• Attend, as requested, state and federal financial aid conferences.
• Other duties as assigned.
Job Duties
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree from a regionally-accredited college.
Two (2) years of financial aid experience.
Knowledge of VA Benefits.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong communication skills both written and verbal; Attention to detail, customer service, time management, and organizational skills required. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and have a strong work ethic. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Experience working with Banner, FAST, COD, and Microsoft Teams is a plus, but not required.
