Description


The City of Irvine seeks an experienced, enthusiastic, and service-oriented individual to serve as the Administrator for the Office of Health & Wellness. Reporting to the Assistant Chief, the ideal candidate will be a professional in the human or social services field with experience/familiarity with managing information and referral systems, principles of case management, and best practices in coordinating care for people with complex needs. This assignment requires expert communication and customer service skills, and the ability to create strong professional relationships with internal and external partners. The Administrator must be able to work independently, as part of a team, and with outside partners.
 
The Administrator is responsible for: directing the day-to-day operations of the City of Irvine’s navigation system, which aims to connect residents with resources and services they need; implementing an internship program for the Office of Health & Wellness; developing, implementing and evaluating program objectives, policies and priorities to meet goals; and engaging diverse stakeholders for effective program design and implementation. The position is also responsible for training and developing staff and building a cohesive team to provide exceptional customer service.

Your Impact

  • Directs the day-to-day operations of the Health & Wellness navigation system.
  • Supervises and provides leadership to technical, professional, and administrative staff, as well as contractors, volunteers, and interns, including hiring, training and annual performance reviews.
  • Develops, manages, and implements strategic plans for delivery of services.
  • Directs and implements community consensus-building efforts around strategic priorities.
  • Directs and supervises the planning, organizing, and marketing of Health & Wellness services for targeted clients and special interest groups. Maintains knowledge of community needs and resources. Develops and directs community-based special events.
  • Provides advice, information, and recommendations to City officials. Directs research and report development for public presentations. Prepares and delivers reports to City Council, other elected or appointed officials, committees, task forces, community and/or advocacy groups. Represents the City with other public agencies.
  • Collaborates with other divisions, departments, and local agencies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in recreation administration, public health, community health, public administration, or a related field.
  • Six years of increasingly responsible administration and management in health and wellness programs, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. 
  • At least three years of experience with direct supervision of professional-level employees which may include performance evaluations and disciplinary oversight.
  • A valid California driver's license is required.
  • MSW or LCSW is preferred. Master’s degree is highly desirable.
Best Fit
  • Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker for at least two years.
  • Experience in social services, housing support, and community resource linkage.
  • Experience implementing a university-connected internship program for bachelor and master’s degree students in social work and social service fields.
  • Ability to resolve significant or politically sensitive issues. Works with outside agencies to promote cooperation and mutual goals.
  • Ability to serve as liaison between city and other civic and community groups.
  • Proven track record of outstanding situational awareness, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent leadership ability and exercising sound judgment.
