The hiring range for this role is:  

107,666.00 - 150,995.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the hiring range andthis hiringrange may also be modified in the future. A candidate’s position within the hiring range may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for annual bonusincentivepay.

Job Description Summary

The Manager, Storytelling, is responsible for developing content that drives BCBSA's strategic agenda and amplifies the role of the Blue Cross Blue Shield System as the most influential voice in U.S. health care.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and edit content --including op-eds, blog posts, reports, social media copy, talking points, one-pagers, and web copy--for a variety of channels regarding BCBSA and Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies that strengthens the reputation of the organization and the BCBS Brand.
  • Collaborate with BCBSA subject matter experts and Plan storytellers to ensure alignment between storytelling efforts and broader organization and Plan initiatives.
  • Analyze the performance of content and assess the factors that contributed to the performance--continually advance understanding of our target audience and how they consume content--ensuring insights are factored into the planning of future efforts and shared with team members.
  • Manage content guidelines, production schedules and approval processes.

Required Education, Certifications and Experience

  • 5 years experience telling stories through multimedia channels
  • Experience in communications/writing/multimedia, preferably in health care.
  • Advanced written skills
  • Advanced proofreading skills and use of AP Style with an acute eye for detail and quality
  • Ability to creatively and proactively advance business and advocacy goals
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in challenging situations that require creativity, drive and commitment
  • Advanced ability to translate technical and complex information
  • Ability to work well under pressure, with demonstrated success at working under deadlines with tight time frames
  • Knowledge of health care industry
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Relationship building skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment

Preferred Education, Certifications and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Experience with data-driven approach to communications
  • Experience working in a large, matrixed organization
  • Previous public relations agency, trade association, political campaign, government or journalism experience
  • Project management skills
