Budge supports this position for up to 29 hours per week; non-benefit eligible.

Provides healthcare services typically performed by a physician, under the supervision of a physician. Conducts complete physicals, provides treatment, and counsels clients; may in some cases, prescribe medication.

All District 4 Public Health, County BOH employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Distribution site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts physical examinations, performs screening and/or orders diagnostic tests, such as breast and pelvic screening, and laboratory tests.
  • Develops comprehensive plans of care.
  • Performs limited acute care visits outlined in District 4 Nursing Protocols.
  • Instructs and counsels clients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  • Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal, assuring tracking and follow up in accordance with protocol.
  • Makes tentative diagnosis and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
  • Obtains, compiles and records client medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures, such as, injections and immunizations.
  • Orders therapy or medication with physician approval.
  • Proficient with Long Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARC), including IUD insertion, IUD removal, Nexplanon insertion and Nexplanon removal (If not fully trained in this area, must be willing to undergo proper training to perform this service).

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate or Master's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and/or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND certification in the specialty area(s) approved by Georgia Board of Nursing AND Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND Georgia license as an APRN AND CPR certification

Additional Information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Public Health experience
  • Experience with screenings, immunizations, GRITS, and interviewing patients
  • At least one year of clinical experience working with Family Practice and/or Women’s Health
  • Bilingual Spanish/English Speaking Language
