What we need
The Pre-Construction Lead is responsible for the development, and maintenance, of the installation Pre-Construction processes including Stage Gate 5, autonomous Layouts, and Installation Page Turns (both Structural and Adapter Cell). This role will interface with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Site Installation teams to ensure that installation processes are deployed on sites to ensure systems are installed consistently across the program meeting our high quality and safety standards, while also helping to achieve efficient and timely installations.
What we do
The Pre-Construction Lead is part of our Site Installation team within our Implementation organization. The Site Installation team oversees the installation of Symbotic automation systems on customer sites. They are responsible for ensuring the systems are installed as designed and at a high quality on schedule and under budget. This group will partner very closely with the Symbotic PMO and Commissioning team.
What you’ll do
- You will partner closely with both internal and external stakeholders across multiple organizational functions to schedule and run the Stage Gate 5 processes, ensuring both customer and Symbotic deliverables are met ahead of start of installation and follow-up across various parties to close all open items.
- You will be the primary subject matter expert (SME) for all aspects of the layout process such as coordinating the deployment of autonomous layout programs at all sites ahead of installation and performing the layout task when necessary.
- Lead training of new resources to perform these deployments.
- Lead and support project kickoff meetings with site teams and subcontractors to ensure the project's detailed requirements are understood and followed throughout installation.
- Collaborate with the Engineering and Installations teams to ensure that program level documentation is updated with regular feedback from the field for functionality and constructability considerations (redlines).
- You will be primary responsibility of site revision control, ensuring that individual installation sites have the most up to date documentation revisions specific to their site from the time of project scope development through the end of installation.
- Foster a culture of collaborative continuous improvement across all functional groups to deliver customer systems that meet our high performance and quality standards.

What you’ll need
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, or engineering discipline or related field required.
- Minium 3 years working in a hands-on industrial, robotic, engineering, or trades role preferred.
- Experience working alongside various functional teams trades contractors preferred.
- Experience with industrial/robotic automation projects and ASRS projects preferred.
- Good negotiation and relationship skills, both in directing the technical team and ability to manage and reach solutions to competing priorities.
- Experience with using metrics and data analysis to drive process improvements.
- Ability to provide critical technical thinking at the team level to trigger appropriate discussions around requirements, design, and process challenges that the team may face.
- Ability to travel up to 80%.

Our Environment
- Hybrid, travel-based position. Access to major airport preferred.
- Travel is required up to 80% of the time. Employee must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. Our main office is in Wilmington, MA. The person taking this position will be required to perform work at our customer installation locations for extended periods of time where equipment is installed and ready for commissioning.
- The employee is responsible to own a credit card and manage expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
- The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.
- Approximately 80% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).
- There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure. You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.
- You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.
- Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
