Overview

LMI is seeking a Senior Health Policy Specialist to support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The Specialist will support a team of policy analysts with subject matter expertise in regulatory and statutory compliance, to include at least program appeals and rulemaking. The Specialist will also support program compliance with federal requirements, including the development of system processes, methodologies and implementation of procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide regulatory guidance, oversight, and consultation throughout the execution of the project, including at a strategic level and in review of LMI deliverables. 
  • Analyze reconsideration requests, laws, regulations, and policies for requirements to determine program compliance. 
  • Apply relevant policy, guidance, and regulations to respond to inquiries. 
  • Support administrative appeals case docket (e.g., case management, drafting background memorandum and administrative/legal briefs). 
  • Support agency rulemaking cycles (e.g., stakeholder meeting management, drafting policy, summarizing public comments, obtaining agency review and clearance). 

Qualifications

Required Skills 

  • Juris Doctorate required 
  • Experience analyzing policy proposals, legislation, and/or regulation and conveying findings to others. 
  • Experience providing policy oversight, consultation, and guidance. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to compose and write a variety of internal and external general business documents, reports, and presentations. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple deadlines and prioritize assignments in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to absorb and analyze large amounts of new technical and policy knowledge independently and collaboratively. 
  • Well organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Work with colleagues to continuously improve monitoring processes. 
  • Participate in client meetings to provide updates on progress and findings. 
  • Ability to pass a US government Public Trust background investigation. 
  • Superior communication, interpersonal and writing skills 
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple deadlines and prioritize assignments in a fast-paced environment. 

Desired Skills 

  • Experience with health systems compliance with federal requirements, including the development of system processes, methodologies and implementation of procedures. 
  • Minimum 4 years consulting experience. 

Target salary range: $71,326 - $125,534
