Job Summary

The Sr. Foundations Administrator at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) is a multifaceted role crucial for the success of Ed.M. Programs. The role serves as a key leader in the planning and delivery of foundational courses, serving as a liaison between various stakeholders, and ensuring smooth operations throughout the academic year. The role plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless delivery of foundational courses, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the Ed.M. Programs at HGSE. They must rely on a combination of knowledge and experience, independent judgment, and skillful collaboration to orchestrate the various parts of the school necessary to meet goals during the fast-paced summer program and throughout the academic year.

Position Description

This role is responsible for the following:

1.            Strategic Project Management: The role leads the creation of project timelines and determines how to revise them; leads and facilitates meetings; and facilitates collaboration among different departments and stakeholders involved in Foundations activities. The FA must also know which stakeholders to involve in each endeavor and navigate accordingly.

2.            Policy Management: The role develops, updates, and organizes resources and policy documents related to Foundations courses, ensuring consistency and clarity across internal and external communications. 

3.            Hiring and Recruitment: Collaborating with faculty, the role manages the recruitment and hiring processes for Teaching Fellows who assist in Foundations courses.

4.            Manage Academic Operations and Support: The role represents Foundations in academic support meetings and determines remedies for potential and emergent issues. Tracks students' academic progress in Foundations, taking appropriate action as needed. Handles student inquiries and appeals and ensures compliance with academic requirements, collaborating with appropriate stakeholders.

5.            Communication Management: The role represents Foundations to various audiences, both internally and externally, and contributes to reports for stakeholders. Coordinates event logistics for Foundations-related activities. Serves as the primary point of contact for prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and teaching fellows regarding the administration of the Foundations experiences. Ensures consistency of information regarding Foundations across all internal- and external-facing communications.

6.            Financial Management: Responsibilities include managing budgets, processing expenses, and serving as a purchasing agent for the program's operating expenses.

7.            Assessment and Improvement: The role supports assessment efforts to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the Foundations program delivery, identifying areas for improvement.

Basic Qualifications

BA or equivalent work experience required. Three or more years of experience in supporting faculty, staff, and students in an educational environment

•              Experience working with academic faculty and students in a higher education setting

•              Familiarity with frameworks or activities that support adult student success and advance equity in higher education contexts

Working Conditions

HGSE is currently developing dynamic workplace models which will actively support a combination of on-campus and remote work (within a state in which Harvard is registered to do business) where business and operational needs allow. Work Format Details

This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
