Job Summary
The Director’s Office of Southwest Campus of Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for a full-time temporary Student Support Specialist III position. This position provides opportunities to work with and learn nearly all departments in higher education, from Student and Academic Affairs, Facilities, Business office and Workforce Development. The department is a team-led, high-functioning, student-focused environment.
Job Duties:
The primary responsibilities of this position include serving as the initial point of contact to support student enrollment services—such as assessment, advising, and referrals—at both the Southwest and Bullitt County extended campuses, as well as facilitating and supporting campus-wide initiatives.
• Assist the extended campuses Director’s Office and offer front desk coverage when required
• Support both extended campuses with new enrollment, outreach initiatives, and retention efforts.
• Develop and co-create educational programming and student engagement activities at both extended campuses, focusing on fostering growth in social and cultural awareness, leadership skills, personal development, and service.
• Administer college placement assessments at both extended campuses and work with relevant departments to ensure accurate documentation.
• Advise students at Jefferson (both in-person and virtually), including first-time freshmen, students with undecided majors, and those pursuing various other degree programs.
• Participate in committees, work groups, and professional development activities.
• Required to travel between both extended campuses, Southwest and Bullitt County, with work hours divided between the two locations.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, MS PowerPoint)
• Demonstrated excellent organizational, coordinating, and personal interface skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to successfully communicate with the public, other employees, and outside partners.
This is a temporary assignment with the potential of transitioning into a permanent role.
