The Role
The Vice President, Vendor Strategy position is a critical role reporting to the Head of Vendor Management. This role is instrumental in setting strategic direction for how we engage with our vendors from on-boarding through the length of the relationships and involves developing vendor segmentation, reporting and establishing governance routines to support vendor decision making across the enterprise. This leader will play an important role in driving both strategic & tactical efforts including supporting regular L1 executive touchpoints and preparing executive level updates. Underpinning all key activities is the ability to bring critical thinking and analysis to provide insight, prioritization, and focus.
This role is a highly collaborative position that interfaces with multiple central and Business Units teams including Procurement, Vendor Risk, Vendor management groups within business units and others to achieve desired outcomes.
The Ideal candidate should have the ability to partner, execute, and influence with strong organizational and communication skills.
The Expertise You have
- The position requires significant strategy & consulting experience with multiple years in the project manager role and experience counseling clients/partners, preferably with a top tier consulting firm.
- Interest or experience in the financial services industry.
- Experience with several business units at Fidelity is a plus
- You must have outstanding analytical, communication, conceptual thinking, project management and problem-solving capabilities.
- You have both the flexibility and the skill to lead and contribute to teams.
- Experience in the areas of vendor management, strategic sourcing, vendor risk is a plus

- Experience with strategy development, change management and business transformation
- Ability to synthesize analysis and research into strategic insights and practical recommendations, including strategic analysis, financial analysis, operational analysis and primary/secondary research
- Capable of influencing senior management, through both personal interactions as well as the creation and delivery of presentations
- Ability to assess risk and operationalize findings - turning research into actions
- Proficient in quantifying challenges and requirements related to execution
- Driver of decisions in complex environments with multiple partners
- Skilled in building relationships with peers and executives in a variety of capacities

- Develop dynamic vendor segmentation to drive appropriate degree of rigor over vendor decisions
- Develop standards and guidelines for new vendor engagements and managing ongoing vendor relationships
- Develop a view of vendor 'strategic fit' to include in vendor evaluation process
- Revisit roles & responsibilities, engagement routines and escalation paths
- Develop, maintain and operationalize holistic and evolving executive level vendor reporting
- Prepare for executive discussions on vendor strategy
- Develop materials for executive meetings
- Enable and lead communications with key business leaders across the enterprise on relevant vendor topics
