The Wealth Planner is a contributing member of HSBC’s Wealth Planning and Advisory (WPA) team of global trust, estate planning, financial planning, family governance, philanthropy, and family office specialists, who together provide advisory services to HSBC individual and family clients. The Financial Planning Lead leads the strategic financial planning delivery for the US Wealth & Personal Banking business, serves as subject-matter expert on financial planning topics, particularly retirement planning and executive compensation/planning with concentrated positions, and works directly with clients to formulate and implement holistic financial planning advice.

HSBC Wealth & Personal Banking US is an integrated platform which provides comprehensive financial services to clients from mass affluent through Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) segments. A cornerstone piece of HSBC’s model is the Wealth Planning & Advisory team, a centralized team of specialist resources with deep technical expertise in the areas of estate planning, income tax, pre-immigration and cross-border tax planning, business succession, philanthropy, family governance, and family office advisory. Wealth Planning & Advisory partners with internal stakeholders, including Sales management and Relationship Managers as assigned. Within the team, the Financial Planning Lead’s key focus is on Premier and Private Client segments on comprehensive financial plans and will work directly with multi-national executives and high earners across the client continuum to support WPB US’s focus on international-connected clients.

As our Wealth Planner, Financial Planning Lead you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, fit-for-purpose financial plan advice to Premier and Private Client clients, with a focus on connecting clients’ stated goals to thoughtful recommendations, and tying those recommendations to HSBC products and services. Execute at the highest level, bringing the bank’s best thinking to bear in a package that reflects the quality of our global brand
  • Focus on growth, help to drive new revenue by working directly with clients and connect financial plans to HSBC products and services
  • Become familiar with the full breadth of the HSBC offering and will be able to identify opportunities for product sales in furtherance of a client’s stated goals. Focus on high-value opportunities while creating scale for him/herself via trainings and teach-ins
  • Serve as financial planning subject-matter expert for the US business
  • Lead clients through the financial planning process, identify opportunities, and deliver recommendations in furtherance of a client’s stated financial goals
  • Assist Head of Wealth Planning and the WPB Sales Distribution team with building the financial planning platform for HSBC US
  • Partner with Regional Heads, Market Managers, and Sales Distribution team to grow financial planning fluency among Wealth Relationship Managers across the US
  • Provide thought leadership, training, and ongoing expertise on key financial planning themes, including retirement planning and executive compensation/restricted stock topics
  • Work in a close, collaborative team of planners with varied and complementary backgrounds to bring the appropriate expertise to a client scenario

For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $148,300.00 and $222,500.00

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Mastery of the financial planning process and understanding of advanced tax, retirement, and executive compensation rules and strategies
  • Sales acumen and demonstrated experience effectively working with clients and ability to recommend appropriate, tailored solutions in furtherance of a client’s stated financial goals
  • Extensive experience presenting financial plans and an interest in teaching financial planning principles to a growing sales force
  • Certified Financial Planner designation and ten years’ experience working directly with clients in a financial planner capacity. Tax qualification (CPA, Masters in Tax) beneficial
  • Familiarity with MoneyGuide Pro financial planning software
  • Experience with non-US retirement plans, and Mandarin or Spanish language fluency a plus
  • Series 7 and 66 required, or ability to obtain within the first 90 days of employment
