Lecturer - Developmental English The University of Texas at El Paso seeks a full-time lecturer to teach developmental English courses face-to-face during the day to UTEP students beginning Fall Semester, 2024. The department focuses on inclusive pedagogy and student support to ensure that students are prepared to succeed in college. DIRECT SUPERVISON FROM: VP of Academics and Compliance
We are seeking to build a pool of Adjunct Instructors for our various programs.&nbsp; If you have solid work experience and applicable skills in the fields/programs that we offer, we would like to consider sharing your knowledge on a part-time basis.&nbsp;&nbsp;
SUMMARY Part-time / Substitute Instructors are responsible for delivering quality instruction in their field of expertise as it relates to the programs offered at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Shelbyville, one of our extension campuses located in Winchester and Fayetteville TN., or at a specific teaching location.&nbsp;
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Credential from a technical or community college, teaching experience, and work experience in the area being taught.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
Three (3) years of related teaching/work experience
 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of the principles and methods of good teaching and supervision as evidenced by a rating of education and experience.</li>
<li>Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office programs and other basic computer software and skills needed for the teaching profession.</li>
<li>Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships and to deal tactfully with students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and the public.</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal skills; effective oral and written communication skills; and excellent organizational and planning skills.</li>

RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Maintain an organized, safe, and stable learning environment.</li>
<li>Utilize in-class assessment tools/techniques to measure student achievement of course competencies.</li>
<li>Administer/proctor tests for students and outside organizations.</li>
<li>Utilize Banner to record and submit grades and attendance (tardiness and absences) daily.</li>
<li>Distribute student syllabus at the beginning of the course to define course competencies, performance criteria, established approved grading procedures and standards, attendance and class policies/procedures, and other necessary information to students.</li>
<li>Demonstrate a commitment to student success by providing guidance to students regarding course progress, and academic and disciplinary issues.</li>
<li>Coordinate all disciplinary issues with administration and Student Services Coordinator.</li>
<li>Coordinate the need for supplies with the instructor and make recommendations for items needed for the program.</li>
</ul>
SPECIFIC DUTIES
<ul>
<li>Adhere to the school calendar and daily class schedule.</li>
<li>Start and end class at designated time.</li>
<li>Perform student surveys each trimester.</li>
<li>Participate in regularly scheduled staff climate surveys.</li>
<li>Check and respond to emails twice daily.</li>
<li>Coordinate necessary absences with VP of Operations and to coincide with student breaks.</li>
<li>Work a maximum of 20 hours per week.</li>
<li>Other duties as defined by administration.</li>
</ul>
AVAILABILITY/CLOSING DATE:&nbsp; This posting is not a guarantee of an open position. Future teaching assignments are on a term-by-term basis, which may include fall, spring, and summer. HOURLY WAGE:&nbsp;$25 to $35 dollars per hour, commensurate with experience and TBR/Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
