Accountant

Position Overview
The Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting specific business divisions and is responsible for monthly close tasks, financial reporting, bank account reconciliations, and assisting with audits and special projects.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform necessary entries required for the monthly closing of the assigned business divisions.
- Analyze and record lending activities, including maintaining loan schedules for the lending business.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, including budget/forecast comparisons and prior period analyses.
- Conduct bank account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Perform monthly reconciliations for selected GL accounts, addressing non-cash items.
- Assist with the preparation of schedules required for the external financial audit and tax preparation.
- Serve as a key contact for auditors' inquiries, providing necessary information and documentation.
- Create and update desktop procedures for all assigned tasks, ensuring consistent and efficient processes.
- Contribute to various ad hoc projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Key Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in top-tier ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or similar.
- Strong command of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel, including IF statements, Macros, Pivots, and VLOOKUP.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a structured accounting department.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders.
- Capable of organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks to meet daily deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the financial services (e.g., banking) industry is a plus.
- Prior experience with a Big 4 CPA firm or large national firm is preferred.
Special Work Conditions
- Sedentary – Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Some positions may entail exerting up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, or pull.
