The BOS Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and performance of full cycle accounting review and oversight for an assigned group of BOS Accounting Managers. The BOS Senior Accounting Manager will lead a group of BOS Accounting Managers and be responsible for the growth and development of the BOS Accounting Manager team, application of AutoNation and GAAP standards of accounting and process administration, issue escalation and resolution within the store or the AutoNation BOS, and process administration backup for BOS Accounting Managers. The BOS Senior Accounting Manager will identify and implement opportunities for improved efficiency and effectiveness in accounting and BOS operational processes. The BOS Sr. Accounting Manager will be the primary contact for their respective Controller and leadership within the BOS.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or business, or equivalent experience; Master of Business Administration or CPA (preferred)
  • Minimum five years of accounting experience, with two years’ automotive accounting experience preferred
  • Excellent coaching and employee development skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of dealership financial statements (preferred)
  • Ability to explain technical financial information in an understandable manner
  • Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience in a shared service environment (preferred)
  • Experience with system implementation/change management (preferred)

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit, hire, develop, coach, and retain a team of BOS Accounting Managers to achieve operational excellence in control and general ledger administration and other accounting and support functions
  • Foster a superior customer service culture in all interactions with all internal and external
  • Continuously identify and implement opportunities for improved efficiency and effectiveness in accounting processes, with engagement from field and BOS stakeholders
  • Oversee day to day accounting operations performed by the BOS to ensure all transactions are recorded in compliance with all AutoNation accounting processes and policies
  • Resolve performance or compliance related issues/escalations for stores and/or corporate teams
  • Review and update training material for the Department specific to job aids
  • Manage process improvement projects with multiple stakeholders to identify and create long term solutions with the integration of technology and process design
  • Maintain suitable internal controls to ensure adherence to AutoNation policies and procedures
  • Consistently meet Service Level Agreements in all areas of the department
  • Ensure the preparation of financial statements in accordance with established timelines
  • Interpreting and analyzing financial statements
  • Act as liaison between region leadership and key operational BOS departments
  • Assist in completion of annual reviews and audits
  • Complete month-end accounting reports, as required, and verify month-end close activities are completed accurately
  • Run and reviewing expense trend reports, as required
