Position Summary:&nbsp;The overall purpose of this job is to provide crisis intervention and personal, academic and career counseling for Pellissippi State students. This position provides coordinated counseling services, programs, consultations, and activities for Pellissippi State students and faculty. The counselor will also contribute to campus-wide initiatives as a content area expert for mental health related topics and offer consultation services to faculty and staff for students of concerns while protecting the confidentiality of clients.
Essential Functions:
30% Counsel students with personal or academic issues individually or in groups.
25% Assist students with career decision-making, vocational goal-setting, and career and life planning.
15% Plan, develop and implement workshops and seminars, and other outreach on campus as requested.
10% Provide support for academic advising and retention programs.
5% Provide short-term crisis intervention and referrals.
5% Perform counseling-related administrative duties.
5% Provide consultation and support for staff, faculty, and academic programs.
5% Maintain information exchange with community agencies.

This position requires a significant amount of analytical, technical, and creative thinking guided by policies and procedures, standards, and precedents from college, state, and national institutions. This includes the ability to make independent decisions in situations for which there is little precedent and the ability to diagnose mental health disorders under clinical supervision. Understanding of counseling theories and practices. Understanding of Federal and state laws related to counseling and higher education. Decisions typically are reviewed during clinical supervision for licensure.
Magnitude of Impact:&nbsp;Counselors provide comprehensive support services in the form of personal, academic, and career counseling as well as crisis management, follow up and outreach programming. Stress is believed to be the number one issue that causes college students to drop out of college. Licensed counselors provide thorough assessment and diagnosis of mental health issues, including those related to stress, and provide expert treatment and available resources. &nbsp;Counselors also provide comprehensive career decision-making services in the form of career counseling and career exploration. Academically, counselors assist students with navigating the complex landscape of higher education and provide practical and emotional support to academically struggling students. Through each of these services, students are given valuable tools to help them be successful and increase the retention and graduation rates at the college. The time frame of impact ranges from immediate (crisis intervention) to long-term (retention/graduation), depending on the nature of the services offered.&nbsp; If a problem should arise, the director of counseling would be called on to assist. If further assessment is warranted, community crisis services would be contacted for consultation.
Responsibility for Accuracy: If a Counselor did not possess job knowledge and skills to help students make informed decisions about personal, social, career, or academic areas, the student could be seriously harmed as well as the College.&nbsp; A lack of knowledge of crisis intervention techniques could in extreme instances result in the death of a student.&nbsp; Not being knowledgeable of program requirements and advising a student to register for inappropriate classes or misadvising about program/majors we offer would be errors with negative consequences. For verification purposes, we use consultation, documentation, and monthly reports to track services.
Judgement and Decisions:&nbsp;Counselors independently select the appropriate approach to address students’ academic or personal issues. Counselors must have the appropriate skill set to assess for crisis interventions and ability to make clinically appropriate recommendations for treatment. Counselors may consult with other members of the Counseling Services Department. Decisions typically are not reviewed before becoming effective. License-eligible clinicians must adhere to high standards regarding ethics and confidentiality as provided by the state board.

40% Perform and execute administrative duties for Student Affairs. These duties include: processing payroll, including leave forms and leave reports; processing electronic purchase requisitions; scheduling meetings and events; taking minutes from meetings; tracking and refilling inventory; scanning and filing documents; responding to inquiries on the phone, via email and in person; schedule room reservations for departmental meetings/trainings/interviews, etc., process petty cash reimbursements, process travel requests, book flights and process travel claims; coordinate yearly revisions to the online college catalog,&nbsp; preparing reports and documents using Microsoft Office products; running reports in Argos; order business cards and name tabs for Student Affairs employees; order PSCC apparel for student ambassadors, process catering requests, maintain employee contact information for division. The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Jacksboro is accepting applications for a Part-Time Adjunct Instructor serving in the Adult Education program. This position will provide instruction for adult learners with varying educational functioning levels. The successful candidate will regularly interact with students, provide instruction, and perform registration and intake-related services at Adult Education instructional sites, which include the American Job Centers, local businesses, housing authorities, rehabilitation facilities, and county jails.

A full-time faculty is responsible for delivering instruction in various formats (on-line, in person, video-conferencing, or any combination of methods) in the discipline(s) for which she/he has been employed. Instruction may take place at any of the college’s campuses, at a clinical partner facility, or at a designated temporary location. The Career and Academic Community (CAC) Manager is responsible for implementation of the Southwest integrated academic and career advising model and the scaling, oversight and operation of the resultant Southwest Career and Academic Community program within their designated academic division. The Manager is accountable for the program’s efficacy as well as retention and persistence benchmarks established by college administration. CAC Managers play a critical role in collaborating with campus leadership; specifically, working across the student affairs and academic affairs divisions to ensure the delivery of high-quality collaborative programs and services that meet the needs of the College’s students. The CAC Managers work closely with the Director of Academic Advising and Career Services to identify best practices, inform ongoing professional development and training, manage advising technology platforms, and develop programs and processes that respond to emerging student needs. The CAC Managers collect and analyze data and maintain compliance with all applicable policies and laws.
Supervisory and Other Relationships 
CAC Managers report to the Director of Academic Advising and Career Services. They are annually evaluated by the Director in collaboration with the AVP of Enrollment Management. The position involves direct supervision and evaluation of three to five Academic Advisors / Student Success Advocates and oversight of the advising program for the designated academic division.
Job Duties
<ul>
<li>Support the development of recommendations, strategies and policies related to implementing a case management advising model for the college that aligns with Guided Pathways principles.</li>
<li>Oversee implementation of integrated academic and career advising model and resultant Career and Academic Communities program for assigned academic division ensuring consistent, high-quality service.</li>
<li>Administer programs to encourage students to seek advising each semester, engage in transfer opportunities, and explore employment options.</li>
<li>Supervise assigned team of academic advisors and provide strategic support for advising programming, case load management, technology, hiring, and staff training/development.</li>
<li>Complete annual evaluation and goal-setting activities for assigned staff.</li>
<li>Partner with Institutional Research and Effectiveness for an annual evaluation of the CAC program.</li>

Job Summary
Responsibilities and Duties Include: • Assist in planning, organizing and coordinating all counseling and recruiting activities of the college. • Assist current and prospective students with the financial aid application process. • Promote the school and develop rapport with other agencies. • Review student applications to determine financial need and award aid according to federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies. • Provide effective outreach to veterans and active-duty military. • Establish interpersonal working relationships with local military-affiliated entities. • Serve as the point of contact (POC) for veteran education benefits/Department of Defense benefits for students/prospective students at the Stanton Extension Campus. • Maintain annual training requirements to remain eligible to be a School Certifying Official. • Serve as a backup School Certifying Official to the main campus. • Develop a general understanding of the impact of financial aid on veteran education benefits. • Maintain/replenish supplies in the Veterans Center. • Perform verification of FAFSA data and conflicting data resolution. • Notify students of eligibility of aid and of award changes. • Conducts orientations and workshops for prospective and current students. • Monitor and evaluate student progress to determine continued eligibility. • Compile and complete financial aid reports in a timely manner. • Reconciliation of financial aid accounts. • Assist with dual enrollment as needed. • Attend, as requested, state and federal financial aid conferences. • Other duties as assigned. 
Job Duties
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years of relevant experience. 
Preferred Qualifications
Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree from a regionally-accredited college. Two (2) years of financial aid experience. Knowledge of VA Benefits. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong communication skills both written and verbal; Attention to detail, customer service, time management, and organizational skills required. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and have a strong work ethic. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Outlook, and Word. Experience working with Banner, FAST, COD, and Microsoft Teams is a plus, but not required.
